The CARES Act authorizes SUNY Sullivan to award grants to help defray the costs incurred by students for the disruption of campus operations related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SUNY Sullivan will receive $1,038,982 from the Department of Education pursuant to the Certification and Agreement [for] Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.
SUNY Sullivan distributed $517,320 directly to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act. SUNY Sullivan has determined 885 students during Round 1, and 778 students under Round 2, at the institution are eligible to participate in programs under Section 484 in Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 and thus eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act for Round 1 grants, and 774 students for Round 2 grants.
SUNY Sullivan distributed $517,320 in emergency grants to eligible students in two rounds:
Round 1: CARES Act grants were available to students based on need and eligibility. Eligible students had been invited to apply through their SUNY Sullivan email address. This round of funding has closed.
Round 2: Round 2 Cares Act Grants were distributed to all eligible students who attended classes past the midterm point. Students should contact the Financial Aid Office for specific eligibility questions. This round of funding has closed.

CARES Act grants will be awarded to students regardless of outstanding account balances they may owe SUNY Sullivan. Some students will receive grants but will still have an outstanding balance owed to the college. Students are encouraged to manage their accounts through the MySUNYSullivan portal to remain eligible to attend in future semesters.

563 students received an Emergency Grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act (Round 1) as of 11/11/2020. An additional 778 students (Round 2) received funding in December 2020.

Case-Based Funding
Additional funds may be available to some students based on costs incurred as a consequence of the disruption of campus operations this spring. A student’s answers on the grant application will help the college identify students eligible for additional funds.
Under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act, students received awards ranging from $300 to $675.
All students will be notified of eligibility, requirements, and application availability by SUNY Sullivan email.
The application will require students to certify and attest that they have or will incur allowable expenses of food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, childcare, and/or transportation as a result of the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus.
